Carpets are great for areas in the home where you need a sense of comfort, like your Lounge and Bedrooms. A lot of the carpets Warson Flooring supply and install can withstand intense areas where high foot traffic is likely like your hall, stairs and landing.
Carpets fall into 4 categories:
- Synthetics
- Wool Blends
- Full loop
- Cut pile
Synthetics
Stain resistant and soft, perfect for homes with young families or pets. Synthetic carpets tend to be made from Nylon, Polyester and Polypropylene or a mixture of these. Nylon and Polyester are very soft feeling materials and hard-wearing but less resistant to stains, Polypropylene has very good stain resistance and tends to be bleach cleanable – Most brands recommend a 1:10 mix with cold water while the stain is still fresh.

Full loop
Full loop pile carpets are where the loops remain uncut in the manufacturing process, these loops don’t allow dirt and other particles to ingrain themselves between the fibres resulting in a carpet that is easier to keep clean and vacuum.
The fibres in a loop carpet are also tighter than in a cut pile as they can’t untwist themselves resulting in a much more harder-wearing carpet. This does also mean that they are less soft and luxurious and feel harder under foot. Also, if any of the loops are loose either in the centre of the carpet or where it has been cut into the wall it is imperative that they are cut and not pulled as this will cause threading and completely ruin the carpet, due to the fact that the loops run through the length of the material.
Wool blends
Extremely hard-wearing and all are suitable for heavy domestic use. Wool has a natural ‘crimp’ in the fibre allowing them to stretch up to 30% and return to their original size, meaning that a wool carpet has the ability to bounce back after being trodden on, meaning the carpet retains its original appearance and reduces wear and tear; perfect for a busy home! However they are less resistant to spills and stains which makes them a better choice for slightly older families.

- Able to last for up to 15 + years with proper care
- Can shed fibres so some brands recommend using rotary brush vacuums
Cut pile
Cut pile or twist carpets are where the loops have been cut hence the name ‘cut pile’.
This results in a carpet that is fluffier and more comfortable, certainly recommend for a Bedroom where you would be looking for softness above all else.
